Angus M Robinson

MAICD FAIM FAusIMM (CP) is an experienced executive, strategist and registered industry lobbyist with extensive recent experience in industry and professional society groupings, particularly relating to the development and application of new technologies. Angus is also the Honorary Secretary of Reinvent Australia inc.

Angus enjoys an extensive range of key contacts throughout the Australian innovation and business system across a wide range of industry sectors, with an extended network within North Asian economies, particularly Taiwan and China. He retired as Chief Executive of the Australian Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers’ Association Ltd in 2008.

Angus has previously served as inaugural General Manager of the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, and prior to 1998, he served for five years as the General Manager of The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering, an industry-linked foundation of The University of Sydney. Earlier executive roles have included Director, Commercial Services at Taronga Zoo, Director of The Earth Exchange Museum in Sydney, and Area Manager of the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort in Victoria.

A geologist by profession as well as a longstanding member of Ecotourism Australia Ltd, he is currently focused on geotourism industry development in Australia. Angus is also a Special Member of the Savannah Guides Network and a member of Wildlife Tourism Australia.

In recent years, Angus has been the inaugural Chair of the Geotourism Standing Committee of the Geological Society of Australia until November 2018 as well as the  Expert Spokesperson on Geotourism for the Australian Geoscience Council (AGC), the umbrella body representing the eight geoscience professional societies in Australia . He has now been appointed the Coordinator for the AGC, focusing on developing a draft National Geotourism Strategy for Australia.

Angus is a Governor of the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife and has recently joined as a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists to lead geotourism tours in Australia.

In the minerals sector, he is a member of the Heritage Committee of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (The AusIMM).

Angus is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and a Rotarian of long standing.
