Tom is a highly experienced and widely respected and published field naturalist and geologist with considerable expertise in environmental education and interpretation; he is also an acknowledged international authority on geotourism and geoconservation with allied publications and consultancy work. In a portfolio career he has held several museum curatorial and educational roles, secondary school teaching posts in the humanities and sciences, and university lectureships in leisure and tourism management.

The Country Charm Ecotour
The Country Charm™ ecotour is a discovery tour of the beautiful Scenic Rim region of Southeast Queensland. Encompassing four days, this truly unique, self-drive tour package introduces travelers to volcanic peaks which provided the substrate for the lush rainforests and open forests of the Lamington National Park and much of the other high country. These volcanic areas, the massive rock uplifted to form Mt Barney, and the valleys between, collectively form the basis of the rural lands and national parks in the Rathdowney and Boonah area. The tour package offers an itinerary which features a variety of quality rural (including heritage) and ecotourism experiences as well as an introduction to the region’s geology and wildlife. Affordable quality accommodation is included in the package.
This eco-tourism certified package, which engages with a range of operators, includes four operators with eco certification. With a focus on the +45 y.o. demographic and designed to meet an emerging need initially for the domestic and then selected overseas markets.
The product will be marketed and retailed through the Travel Associates group. Avis Australia is also supporting this product. A donation towards the wildlife conservation work of the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife will be made for each ecotour package sold.
